Orpington Rovers U7 4 v U7 Lions 4

U7 Lions

So we returned to the ground where our adventure begun, our first ever game was played at the Rovers game and we got beat 13-0 !! We came back with a point to prove, we know there a massive side who like to play the "LONG BALL" game. We like to pas the ball so this game could become interesting.

Disaster with 5 minutes before KO we only had 5 players, 4 more were stuck in traffic, with 2 minutes to go we had 2 more turn up without our usual warm up we took to the pitch.

1st 10

You could tell the boys wearn't warmed up, our passing wasn't happening and we were all over the place, Rovers threatened our goal in waves of attacks, one player who did manage to warm up was our keeper and that was Django who pulled of 3 wonderful saves, but even he couldn't stop the 1st goal - yet another long punt up field and an awful bounce left the ball in the back of the net !! 0-1

We restarted the game and another long ball and they somehow scored again 0-2 - it wasn't mean't to be like this today!!!

We started to play now, when the ball was on the ground we looked good, we had boys playing out of position but they were all doing there best and trying to play, Alfie made a great tackle and was just about to pass when he was hacked down from behind which left him in a heap on the floor - freekick surely - No said the Ref as they shot and scored !! What an absolutley ridiculous decision, the most important thing was our captain was OK - he is a tough little man that leads by example, the boys were upset but they just get on with it. 0-3

2nd 10

By now 2 more boys had got there, the game restarted but we were still struggling to get hold of the ball, Rovers were still humping the ball from one end to the other but we started to deal with it, our little defenders were starting to come out on top - well done Lewis, Alfie and Akai.

We started passing the ball and looked like we mean't buissness, Fraser was running the midfield he drove at goal and WHACK another bad tackle but this time we got the freekick, Fraser placed the ball and hit a vericious shot that the keeper got a hand to - Our boy from Brazil Marcelo reacted like lightening and smashed the ball into the goal taking a Rovers defender with the ball as well1-3.

3rd 10

We came out fighting and started playing the way we should, the boys were warmed up now - Come on you little Lions !

We had some wonderful passing, 4 -5 passing moves this was great, Rovers didn't have a response to this until a long clearence a big thump and goal 1 - 4 the boys didn't deserve that one.

4th 10

We had our chat and the boys were well up for it, this team was actually becoming a team they wanted to win play well for each other - Lee and Andy are loving it, as we've said befiore the score isn't important the playing of football is.

Jordan was asked to play in a new position and he was fantastic, he was everywhere the tricks were coming out and this inspired the rest of the team, Fraser got his game going his mazzy runs are incrediable, a move of around 4 passes left Fraser with a chance to shot and *BANG* goal what a finish, the whole team celebrated that was nice to see 2 - 4.

We again got the ball and I have to admit we were looking good but surely with 5 minutes left we couldn't get a result - could we!

Akai was carrying on the good work he had done lately and was winning tackles and running and passing - We like this new Akai keep it up son.

We attacked with menace the ball ended up at Frasers feet and he whipped in a cross that went across the goal and ended up at Jordans feet he strode into the Rovers box and a hack by the defender left him on the floor - got to be a penalty - it was, Jordan picked himself up placed the ball shot beat the keeper and the ball scrapped the post and went wide - unlucky big man.

Akai won the ball in defence raced forward and the ball found it's way to Henry whos's cross was perfect an on rushing Jordan met the ball and it flashed into the back of the net 3-4. The boys again celebrated and Jordan liffted his shirt up to give his mum a Mothers day message, what a lovely touch.

There was now about a minute left when Henry had the ball he thumped it and the ball crashed of the post and out of play - how unlucky and what a shot.

Time was running out we kept attacking at pacethe oppo were defending well we had a shot that bounced at to Fraser on the run he hit a shot and the back of the net rippled and GOAL 4-4 what a come back our parents wnet wild the boys were hugging my heart felt like it was going to pop, fantastic what a final 10 minutes.

Final whistle 4-4.

Against a big strong team who liked a tackle we did really well, again myself and Lee would like to say how proud we are of this little team, they may be small but they have the hearts of Lions and they all have a big future down the Lane.

Come on you Lions !!!
